THIS is Rohan Crooks – Oxford’s most wanted man.

Police are hunting the 31-year-old in connection with an attempted murder after a cyclist was left fighting for his life during a hit-and-run in Blackbird Leys six months ago.

Det Insp Simon Morton, of Oxford CID, last night appealed for anyone who knows where Crooks is to contact police.

Police believe Crooks aimed his green Lexus at the cyclist following an argument, then dragged him along under the car for about 40ft to the junction of Blackbird Leys Road and Cuddesdon Way last October.

The cyclist survived, but his injuries were so severe the man was in hospital for almost a month and has only recently started walking again.

Mr Morton said: “He is Oxford’s most wanted man at the moment because of the seriousness of the offence and length of time he has evaded capture.

“He is not to be approached and he is a dangerous individual,” he added.

Police were called to Blackbird Leys at about 6pm following a fight between two men outside Ladbrokes bookmakers on Blackbird Leys Road on October 9.

During the brawl one of the men waved a knife and shoppers were forced to hide in shop doorways.

Mr Morton added: “The victim got away from the fight and jumped on a bike to cycle away.

“The offender jumped in a car and ran him down at the junction with Cuddeson Way, dragging his body under the car for about 40ft before he made off.

“I believe the driver of that car was Rohan Crooks.”

Crooks is believed to spend a lot of time in Oxford and London, Mr Morton said.

He is described as black, about 5ft 8in tall, slim, has distinctive green eyes and walks with bandy legs.

Crooks may have changed his haircut since the photograph was taken.

DI Morton said: “We are doing everything we can to apprehend this guy, but I need help to find him. I want him to give himself up because we will catch up with him sooner or later.

“If anyone is found harbouring him then they are also committing a serious offence.”

The injured man, named locally as Dean Francis, suffered multiple injuries .

Police seized a green Lexus car believed to have been used in the hit-and-run.

A 36-year-old man and 25-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, have been released without charge.

Anyone with information should call police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
