An investigation has been launched after a man died on a railway track early this morning.
British Transport Police was called at 2.43 am by Network Rail after a train driver discovered the man just past Culham railway station, at Old Bridge.
According to British Transport Police the man was hit by a freight train.
A spokesman added: “BTP can confirm a man died after being struck by a train near to Culham rail station, Oxfordshire, in the early hours.
“The incident, which was reported to police at 2.43am, is being treated as non-suspicious.
“BTP officers attended alongside Thames Valley Police and paramedics from the local ambulance service.
“The line was handed back to Network Rail at 5.13am. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
A spokesman for Network Rail said the undertakers attended the scene at 3.45am.
Lines opened in both directions at 7am but delays of up to 30 minutes are still expected.
