A 14-year-old thief who attacked a witness has been jailed.
The teenage boy, from Barton, Oxford, who cannot be named, was sentenced to four months at a youth detention centre by Oxford Magistrates’ Court.
He admitted intimidation and assault following an attack with a tent pole, on a 14-year-old boy last month.
The court ordered the teenager to receive a training order for two bag snatches in Bury Knowle Park, and an attempted bag snatch in South Park in September last year.
Det Con Iain Spencer said: “This conviction shows that we deal robustly with incidents like this.
“We work with the Crown Prosecution Service to ensure that people who steal and intimidate others are reprimanded and are aware that we will not tolerate this type of behaviour.”
The boy was sentenced last Wednesday.
