Among those raising money in Oxfordshire for the Comic Relief charity on Red Nose Day today were:

  • Outset Nursery, in Keble Road, Bicester, raised £100 after children paid to wear pyjamas.
  • Amy Wyatt and Bonnie Pinder, of Specsavers, in the Orchard Centre, Didcot, cycled on an exercise bike and raised £300.
  • Staff at Chapters hair salon, in Witney’s High Street, wore pyjamas while cutting people’s hair to raise £150.
  • Staff at Sainsbury’s supermarket, in Didcot, dressed up to dance and raised £3,000.
  • Tara Bedford, of Imagine Co-operative Childcare, at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, shaved off her hair for £200.
  • Children at Positive Steps Day Nursery, in Shellingford, took part in games and activities.
  • Abingdon computing firm Sophos’s chief executive Steve Munford fought staff in an inflatable boxing ring, aiming to raise a knockout £4,000.
  • Events at St Andrew’s Primary School, London Road, Headington, raised £428.38.
  • James Lavers and colleagues at the Barley Mow pub, in Clifton Hampden, cycled 1,000 miles to raise £500.
  • Jivers at Jive+ at Langdale Hall, in Witney, dressed up in funny attire for a dance to raise £90.
  • Pupils at Edward Feild Primary School, in Kidlington, dressed in pyjamas to raise £400.
  • Residents at St Edburg’s Care Home, in Bicester, raised £100 wearing fancy dress and dyeing their hair.
  • Newsquest Oxfordshire sales executive Charlotte Davies, 23, gave up eating sweet things for a month to raise £150.
  • Movie and television-themed fancy dress costumes were worn by staff at European Electronique, Oakfields Industrial Estate, Witney, who raised £200.
  • Shopkeepers opening up in Chipping Norton yesterday found knitted woollen red noses attached to their door handles but Jaffé and Neale Bookshop and Café owner Polly Jaffe said it was a mystery who was responsible.
  • A special human race at Oxford Greyhound Stadium on Thursday raised £270.
  • Bartholomew School pupils Vivien Hughes and Chloe Donnelly-Franklin cycled from Eynsham to Oxford, last weekend, and raised £223.30.
  • Bicester Country Club’s health and fitness team dressed as smurfs and collected £250.

Fundraising events taking place today for the appeal include:

  • A 12-hour darts and pool marathon is being held at the Waterwitch pub, in Cockcroft Road, Didcot.
  • Children in fancy dress will become landlords for the day at Home Sweet Home pub, in Roke.
