FREE dance displays and children’s activities are among the attractions at Oxford Castle over the weekend.

For modest fees you can climb the 11th-century Castle Mound, explore the historic prison buildings and crypt, and ascend St George’s Tower for panoramic views of Oxford.

Children’s activities

Come along to the Key Learning Centre, part of Oxford Castle – Unlocked , where children can join in with activities such as model making and designing a simple musical instrument.

Activities will be running both Saturday and Sunday (drop-in between 11am and 4pm).

There is a family friendly café located next door to serve all hungry festival goers.

Priority will be given to day/season ticket holders for whom activities are free.

Admission for others is £2 per child (subject to availability).

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Morris Mania!

Oxford Castle and the city centre will again be inundated over the weekend by around 40 dance sides. For more information visit the website: www.masonsapron.org.uk.

You can try Morris dancing yourself with workshops at the Castle Garden Marquee on Sunday with local sides, Icknield Way (Cotswold) and Armaleggan (Border)

Grand street parade

Many Morris groups will feature in our Grand Street Parade which starts from Oxford Castle on Saturday at 11am, processing through the city to Cornmarket and Carfax at noon.

The parade will be led by the festival’s own marching melodeon band, Melomania.

Craft fair

This year, the free craft fair will be held in the comfort and warmth of the newly refurbished Gallery downstairs at the Town Hall.

CDs and festival and artists’ merchandise will be available upstairs in the Town Hall in the Bar area.
