The Oxford Mail campaign to bring back ITV Thames Valley Tonight, and popular presenter Wesley Smith, has been joined by almost 300 readers in just over 24 hours.
Petition
The Thames Valley Tonight programme was scrapped in February when the television company merged three regional news bulletins into one new programmes, Meridian Tonight.
The new show is broadcast from Southampton and now covers eight counties.
So many people called, wrote and emailed the Oxford Mail complaining about the lack of Oxfordshire news in the show since it launched, yesterday we started our Bring Back Wes campaign both online and via a tear out form in the paper.
By 10.30am today, 296 people had joined our campaign, with more entries expected through the post.
Popular presenter Wesley Smith, who fronted the old programme alongside Hannah Shelswell and Mary Green, was axed and replaced by Fred Dinenage and Sangeeta Bhabra.
