NO, we do not live in a mad world, as Thursday’s Oxford Mail leader column would suggest.
Casual sexism, such as that exhibited by Mr Jackson-Smyth, is not just a bit of banter. It is downright rude and demeaning to women, such as the one to whom the remark was directed.
Three cheers to the Halifax for the way they protected a member of their staff by not dismissing her complaint as “a bit of banter”.
