A DOG owner and his faithful hound are celebrating after scooping a best of breed prize at Crufts.
Dizzy, a five-year-old Petit Basset Griffon Veedeen, and her owner Gavin Robertson, scooped the national dog show award on Thursday.
They narrowly missed out on a place in tomorrow’s best in show final and were placed second in the hound group final.
The award is Mr Robertson’s fifth and Dizzy’s second in the best of breed category at Crufts.
The 35-year-old, of Hanney Road, Steventon, said: “This is her last show here and she’s won this award two times now.
“She’s got nothing left to prove and it’s a dream come true. She’s now retiring on a high.”
Mr Robertson added: “This is the most famous dog show in the world, everyone knows about it and you couldn’t ask for more.
“I’m going to have to find a new partner, but I can’t wait to come back next year.”
Dizzy was among 25,000 dogs at the Kennel Club’s annual competition, which is being held at the Birmingham’s NEC with an attendance of about 160,000 people.
