Police have appealed for witnesses after 2,200 litres of diesel was stolen in two incidents.
Thieves entered a compound near the Dix Pit in Stanton Harcourt on the night of Saturday, February 28, into Sunday, March 1, and siphoned off in excess of 1,200 litres of diesel from a number of heavy goods vehicles.
On the same evening, thieves cut through a chain on a gate at a farm just outside Lechlade.
They got into the barn and stole about 1,000 litres of diesel from a tank.
PC Phil Marstin said: “I appeal to anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area at the time to contact me.
“I would also like to advise businesses who store large amounts of diesel to be extra vigilant and consider their security arrangements.”
Anyone with information should call PC Marstin on 08458 505505, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
