Dr ‘L’Riesling 2007, Germany: Made by the Master of Riesling himself, Ernie ‘Dr L’ Loosen, this very pure and minerally wine has the trademark racy acidity associated with the Mosel, which despite its relative sweetness keeps the wine superbly fresh.
Chateau La Freynelle Sauvignon Semillon 2007, France: Bordeaux blanc in a screwcapped bottle — what next?! It is actually no surprise given this excellent go-ahead producer’s ultra-modern and forward-looking style of wine. This is the future for white Bordeaux.
Navajas Rioja 2007, Spain: Still hugely popular after all these years — and deservedly so. Antonio Navajas makes very clean wines from 100% Tempranillo, thereby producing a fine and delicate, yet fruitful style of Rioja. Top class.
Chantovent Pinot Noir 2007, France: Chantovent’s Pinot Noir has received much praise from the wine press for its uncanny resemblance to Burgundy — despite the fact that it comes from the south of France. A stylish wine that, like the Rioja, goes extremely well with lamb.
