CCTV footage of a group of 50 Oxford United fans attacking an opposition supporters’ coach has yet to be viewed by police, it was confirmed tonight.
Earlier this week, the club said it would be providing officers with copies of the recordings, which show fans pelting a Torquay fans’ bus with stones as it left the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.
The attack, which followed the U’s 2-0 defeat, cracked a double-glazed side window on the coach, which will cost £600 to replace.
Club stewards flanked the vehicle as stones rained down for 10 minutes, but police were not involved.
Oxford United safety officer Keith Carter said the club would not tolerate such behaviour and would be working with the police to ban the culprits.
A police spokesman last night said: “We haven’t reviewed the CCTV footage yet.
“We will only decide whether to pursue any prosecutions after we have done so.”
He said that if it was possible to identify individuals involved, police would seek football banning orders in court.
He said the incident was entirely policed by the Oxford United's stewards.
