It is never good to see a company go into administration and so it is with Spring Residential.
Some of the Jericho boatyard campaigners may be inclined to celebrate the company’s demise as it was behind the controversial redevelopment of the area.
There may now be an opportunity for the campaigners to meet their objective of purchasing the site and promoting an alternative development. We wish them well with this although we suspect they will need to act quickly to secure a deal.
The news about Spring is, however, a blow to a much bigger plan to redevelop the Frideswide area and to improve the traffic situation outside the station.
Spring was the partner of the landowner Christ Church. It is good to see the college remaining committed to the scheme but one suspects it could now be delayed by several years.
