The loss of a baby midway through pregnancy is something most of us find unimaginable.
Kelly Williams, from Littlemore, was four-and-a-months pregnant when she lost a baby son that she had named Mennis Lee.
Naturally, she wanted to bury the foetus and left the matter in the hands of the John Radcliffe Hospital’s chaplaincy service.
However, she was unaware her child would be buried along with six others in a shallow grave that was covered with a wooden board.
As far as we can tell the hospital has done nothing wrong except, it appears, not fully explain the burial procedure to a grieving mother.
Clearly the trust needs to review its procedures because families deserve to be treated with the utmost respect at such a sensitive time.
We hope Ms Williams’ comments are taken on board.
