SCHOOLS from Abingdon and Japan will come together to perform a symphonic extravaganza.
On Monday, March 23, the Sheldonian Theatre, in Oxford, will be the setting for the Anglo-Japanese concert. Orchestras from Abingdon School and Tokai Gakuen High School, in Nagoya, will play pieces by Wagner, Tchaikovsky, Dvorak and Schumann. It will also feature work by Abingdon School’s composer Simon Whalley, commissioned especially for the concert.
Starting at 7.30pm, the concert of 160 musicians will celebrate 150 years of friendship between the two countries. Tickets are free but should be booked from Abingdon School, by emailing arts.sec@abingdon.org.uk, by calling 01235 849063 or visiting abingdon-booking.info
