Sir – There’s been talk recently of nursing and care homes which do not come up to expected standards.

My aunt died recently in the Meadows care home in Didcot and I cannot imagine more attentive care assistants and nursing staff doing difficult and often thankless jobs.

Those of us who visited her regularly and especially towards the end, were offered much appreciated food and hot drinks as well as emotional support.

They treated my aunt with admirable understanding and patience during her time with them and when it was time for her to die, they treated her with complete respect.
