As a pre-Oxford Folk Festival warm-up Jon Boden (of Spiers and Boden and Bellowhead fame) will appear at the Jericho Tavern on Saturday, March 7, showcasing his new solo album 'Songs from the Floodplain'.
The album's theme concerns a rural community surviving and coming to terms with apocalyptic turmoil and its aftermath.
For the live show Jon is backed by the remarkable Remnant Kings, who weave the traditional instrumentation of concertina, banjo and fiddle into a post industrial tapestry of electric guitar, thumping bass and clanging percussion.
They will also be playing songs from Jon's first solo album 'Painted Lady' and some trad favourites.
Support is from Telling the Bees and kick-off is 8pm. Tickets from From We Got Tickets costs £12, plus a booking fee applies. Oxford Folk Festival runs from March 20-22.
