A group of soccer-mad schoolboys walked from Abingdon to Oxford to raise money for a new kit.
Year 10 footballers from St Gregory the Great School, in East Oxford, collected £320 in sponsorship money for the six-and-a-half mile trek.
Jordan Obita, 15, from Greater Leys, was one of 16 team members and supporters who took part in the walk.
He said: “It was a long way to walk, but it was good to keep fit and it’s for a good cause.
“I feel good about being responsible for raising money for a new kit - it looks much better and more professional.”
Jordan’s mother, Kerry, who took part in the walk, said: “They have had their football kit for a while so myself, my sister-in law and one of my sisters decided to do a sponsored walk from Tesco in Abingdon back to St Gregory’s to raise money.
“When we go to football games, it is nice for them to look the same – before one or two might have had different coloured socks or shorts.
“It just looks more professional to all have the same – that’s why we decided to do it.”
The 17 new kits will be shared by the Cricket Road school’s Years Eight and 10 teams.
Headteacher John Hussey said: “The youngsters wanted to get themselves smartened up because they wanted to represent the school.
“It was a really successful event. They just got off and did it themselves.”
