Residents gave their views on the future of their parish at a drop-in event in Oxford.
Organisers of the North Hinksey Parish Plan, which covers Botley, were at Seacourt Hall on Saturday to hear people’s views on what they think should be built over the next 15 years.
High on the agenda was the current lack of youth and community facilities, which parishioners think should be remedied as part of the Vale of White Horse District Council’s plan to redevelop the dated West Way Shopping Centre and Elms Parade.
More homes are also on the way with planning applications submitted for 150 houses in Tilbury Lane and 130 homes on land south of Lime Road.
Parish plan chairman Jenny Barker said: “We had quite a lot of people through the door, between 80 and 100 people. It was mainly adults — it was a bit disappointing we didn’t get that many youngsters.”
She added: “I would like to see a greater variety of shops here. It would be nice to have modern buildings and more variety.
“We are well served with schools, but there is no leisure centre younger people can go to, and no youth club.”
