Drinks at the Kassam Stadium tasted a little bit sweeter for Oxford United fans this weekend.
On Friday, club chairman Kelvin Thomas announced he had struck a deal with former chairman Firoz Kassam to share profits from the sale of matchday food and drink and pitchside advertising. Previously all money went to Mr Kassam’s Firoka business.
Tony Snellgrove, from Chalgrove, was among many taking advantage of a special offer of £1.75 for a pint of lager ahead of Saturday’s game against Torquay United.
He said: “I’m very happy, because anything that benefits the club is a good thing.”
Justin Atkinson, from Wheatley, added: “We’ll spend more money more freely here now, without thinking twice about doing it.
“It’s good to see a positive step with Kassam, because it’s been negative for two years.”
Russell Chaplin, from Tiddington, near Thame, said: “We’ve come an hour early here today and we’ll be here every game now.”
