Mother-of-two Jane Matthews was just 40, fit and healthy when cervical cancer struck.
She discovered she was suffering from the disease after a routine smear test in November 2005. She was lucky.
Her cancer was discovered and treated early, unlike the tragic case of Jade Goody.
Like many women with cervical cancer, Mrs Matthews showed no symptoms. And that is why it is so important for women to ensure they are routinely tested.
Cervical smear tests can detect early changes in cells and prompt the need for treatment.
