Thieves have targeted a series of older models of cars during a spree in Wheatley.
In the past three weeks, eight cars have been stolen, a further four broken into and another three damaged.
Pc Ian D’Angeli said: “Car crime can cost the victim a huge amount of money. But, through higher insurance premiums, these crimes affect all motorists.
“Since February 8, car criminals in the Wheatley area have particularly targeted old vehicles, particular old models of Vauxhall Corsa, Rover Metro and Ford Fiestas.
“To minimise the risk to a vehicle, motorists should fit steering wheel locks, immobilisers and, when possible, park in well-lit areas.”
Thirteen Vauxhall Corsas and 12 Ford Fiestas have been stolen from Oxford since January 1.
It is not known if the two are connected.
