A passer-by led an elderly woman to safety following a blaze at the pensioner’s home in Wallingford this morning.
A spokesman for Oxfordshire Fire Service said two crews were called to the fire at the house in Wood Street at about 6.15am.
She added that the passer-by had already led the woman to safety by the time crews arrived. The pensioner was then treated by paramedics.
The spokesman added: “The front of the house was damaged in the fire and the cause is still being investigated.”
