A 26-year-old man is in custody after a brawl in the middle of a busy Oxford street.
Police were called after up to 15 men were seen fighting in Cowley Road, between the junctions with Howard Street and Cumberland Street, at around 11.40pm yesterday.
A 31-year-old man with injuries to his face and a 27-year-old man with cuts to the back of his head were both taken to hospital, but they were not seriously injured.
A third man was also hurt in the fight but did not need hospital treatment.
The man arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm has yet to be interviewed by police.
It is believed the fight involved men from South East Asia, but police were unable to confirm the ethnicity of those involved.
Det Insp Simon Morton said the fight was not being linked with any other incidents of gang violence in the area.
He added: “We believe a large number of people witnessed this incident, which has left one man with serious head injuries and another needing hospital treatment.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
