The Wessex car industry has taken another blow with workers being laid off at BMW in Cowley.
This comes on top of reduced production at the Honda factory in Swindon and Ford in Southampton.
Rather than laying off Wessex workers and leaving machinery idle, the Wessex Regionalist Party proposes that these factories be used to produce much needed equipment such as hospital scanners.
Instead of giving money to foreign-owned firms simply to keep skilled workers on their payrolls, it would be better for the Government to pay the businesses to produce what society needs and keep Wessexers in work. That is what a Wessex government would do.
