Police are renewing their appeal for information after the body of an elderly man was discovered in St Aldates, Oxford, on Wednesday.
The body was discovered at about midnight on the road works in St Aldates, outside the Solus lighting shop and has not yet been formally identified.
The man was white and about 5ft 7in tall. He was wearing brown trousers, a blue shirt, a cream jumper and a grey anorak with a wide brown stripe down the arms. He was also wearing a brown flat cap and carrying a white plastic bag. He is believed to be a local man.
Sgt Mark Ponting said: “As a result of the media appeal yesterday the driver of a white stretch Hummer limousine has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
“We also appealed for four women to come forward who were stood near to the scene.
"Two women attended St Aldates police station yesterday and provided us with information about the two other people. We now believe these two people were a man a woman, aged in their twenties.
“I appeal to this couple to get in touch as they may be able help us with our enquiries.
“I am still keen to hear from any bus and car drivers that may have driven through that area of the city at the time.”
