Vandals wrecked a teenage boy’s grave during a rampage at an Abingdon cemetery.
Ch Insp Andy Boyd, commander for Vale of White Horse, said he was disgusted following the attack at Abingdon Cemetery, in Spring Gardens.
Police believe vandals targeted the grave of the 13-year-old boy sometime between 4.30pm and 8pm on Tuesday. They smashed a Chelsea Football Club money box and some plastic football boots and ate sweets and a fizzy drink left at the grave by family.
A window in the chapel was also smashed at the same time and at least six other graves were vandalised or toppled over.
Mr Boyd said: “I am disgusted that people could be so selfish and thoughtless. The families who visit and attend the graves are distraught that something like this could happen.
“I would like to appeal directly to those responsible to think about what they have done and come forward.”
