A driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing the death of a pensioner who was found dead in Oxford city centre.
The man in his late 60s, who has not yet been formally identified, was found with multiple head injuries at the junction between St Aldate's and Speedwell Street in the early hours yesterday. He was declared dead the scene.
Police have now arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and he has been released on bail until March 17.
Spokesman Victoria Brandon said detectives are trying to trace a man and a woman in their 20s who were near the scene at the time as they believe they may be key witnesses.
