All the arguements for ID cards make you wonder why the Government doesn’t just issue SIM cards to everyone.
Most people want a cell phone anyway, even though we can be tracked wherever we go when carrying one. They would also be cheaper than an ID card, and have the advantage of allowing the government to record all your calls.
SIM cards could also contain biometric data and be a useful tool.
Why not also modify all HD ready satellite TV devices to act as visual and verbal recorders allowing Big Brother to keep an eye on us?
They could also ensure that everyone has internet access and, by closing Post Offices and putting banks and building societies under Government control, make sure that all personal business is recorded online. This won’t curb terrorism, but then none of these measures were really meant to anyway.
