Office workers exchanged their heels for comfy trainers to take part in Oxford’s first city centre health walk.
The event was organised as part of the Get Oxfordshire Active campaign, and will be held every Thursday at 12.15pm starting at Carfax Tower.
About 40 people took part in the first walk last week and spent 40 minutes wandering around the city centre, including the grounds of New College, in New College Lane.
GO Active co-ordinator Abbie Clare said: “The idea behind it is that it’s great to be more active and it helps a lot of people in the workplace to settle down in the afternoon and have a bit more concentration.”
She said it might not be ideal for everyone but encouraged people in the city centre to use their lunch hour to take part.
Miss Clare added: “A lot of the people who work in the centre of Oxford don’t ever give themselves time to get out and explore the city, so most of the people on the walk said they had never realised that Oxford was so nice.”
