Sir – The south side of the Oxpens Road is delightful as it is.
After the bright orange façade of Floors-2-Go, with its pockmarked forecourt and decorative arrangement of pallets, there is the Coven nightclub, followed by the coach park and then the car park — a positive feast of tarmac, concrete and metal.
What more could one ask? However, all is then spoiled by Oxpens Meadow with its grass and trees and birds and tranquillity stretching right down to the river. Well, I ask you!
Who — apart from benighted visitors asking how to get to the Thames (instead of the shops!) — wants that? Fortunately, it is the only green area along the whole road and we must hope that plans to develop at least half of the land prevail.
Wouldn’t it be dreadful if the St Ebbes residents’ application to have the Meadow declared a Town Green, and thereby preserved, were successful?
