About a thousand people have joined a campaign urging Oxford University to be more ‘green’.
Students have signed 1,000 postcards, woven into the shape of a heart to mark St Valentine’s Day, demanding the university adopt more environmentally friendly practices — including the appointment of a so-called Green Tsar to oversee a reduction in the establishment’s carbon footprint.
Oxfordshire’s Green Party MEP, Caroline Lucas, was today set to speak to students on the steps of the Clarendon Building about the importance of going ‘green’ before handing in the petition.
