I AM writing this after reading about Chris Lewis’s good deed in volunteering to clear the snow around Hinton Waldrist. And my blood pressure is at boiling point.
Where there is a crisis do we have to wait for people wearing yellow jackets and hard hats to tell us about health and safety?
My neighbour and I volunteered our services with tractors to clear the A417 through East Challow.
With traffic tailed back at a standstill, and an ambulance going nowhere, the last thing you think about is health and safety.
Yes, the road was cleared and traffic moving 20 minutes later. We didn’t expect any thanks from the highways department but the police were very complimentary.
And, I am not even qualified – as I have only been driving tractors for 40 years!
