So Ian Hudspeth, in yesterday’s Oxford Mail, questions whether councillors expenses are really an issue that the electorate of Oxfordshire is interested in?
Regardless of where the councillors may have stayed that night, expensive or not – and setting aside the questions that the Oxford Mail raised about it – the sheer arrogance of Mr Hudspeth astounds.
Mr Hudspeth seems to have had a lapse in memory that in the next month or two, the residents of Oxfordshire will be getting our rate notifications.
And, in those, we will be informed of cuts in funding for programmes and services which cannot be met due to lack of funds.
Yet these expenses are being paid from county council funds.
These are the same funds which are being withdrawn in other areas.
Sorry Mr Hudspeth but, yes, it is an issue which the electorate is interested in.
Other councillors have said the answers to what, and how much, they claim, will come out eventually.
Yes they will, but they will be hoping by then that all this will be forgotten.
It is hoped that when that time comes, the residents will not forget this sorry issue, highlighted by the arrogance of Mr Hudspeth and his attitude to the residents of Oxfordshire.
