A GANG of men is believed to be behind 10 distraction burglaries across the county over the last two weeks.
Each time the gang has targeted elderly residents and claimed to be from the ‘water board’, or even police.
The gang members are all white and in their late teens, or 20s, with and have fled with cash and jewellery.
One of the gang showed a fake identity card and wore a police baseball cap to talk his way inside a house in Roman Road, in Wheatley, at 9pm on Tuesday. Cash and a handbag were stolen.
Earlier in the evening, at 8.15pm, four men claimed to be police officers investigating a burglary, attempted to get inside a house in Kingston Blount, but left empty-handed.
On Monday, they targeted a woman in Merton Close, Eynsham. On Sunday, they struck at North Close, Tiddington, and Aldergate Road, in Bicester, after claiming to be from the water board.
Last Friday, the gang stole jewellery from a man in Townsend Square, East Oxford, after claiming to be from the water board, which no longer exists.
They also raided a house in Bodicote, near Banbury, on Friday. On January 30, men conned their way inside three homes in the Henley area.
