A coach carrying Royal Marines to an airbase in Oxfordshire careered off a road injuring six men during icy conditions this morning.
About 25 members of 42 Commando Regiment were on board a coach driving from Plymouth to RAF Brize Norton, near Carterton, west Oxfordshire.
The coach crashed on the A40 near Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, around 5.20am.
One was treated at the scene for minor injuries and four were taken to Cheltenham General Hospital with minor injuries.
The 39-year-old driver, from Plymouth, was seriously injured and taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
None of the men is believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries.
The Royal Marines were set to fly out of RAF Brize Norton to Afghanistan.
The A40 at Puesdown remains closed.
