Icy road surfaces and flooding caused treacherous conditions for drivers across Oxfordshire this morning.

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance said: “We are attending a number of accidents because of the ice.”

Thames Valley Police closed the A417 in West Hendred because of the ice, and the Stadhampton Road at Drayton St Leonard was closed both ways because of flooding.

The B4012 was also closed near the A40 junction in Postcombe because of an accident.

Three accidents were also reported on the Oxford Road between Eynsham and Botley.

The B4015 at Nuneham Courtenay, between the A4074 junction and the B480 junction, was closed because of flooding.

The B445 Chinnor Road, Thame, was also closed due to flooding, between the B4012 Wenman Road and the B4009 Station Road junction.

The A40 at Wheatley was also closed due to flooding, between the Wheatley junction and the Worminghall junction.

And an accident was reported on the A4130 at Milton Hill, near the B4017 junction, causing queuing traffic.

Park Lane in Stanford in the Vale was closed due to flooding between the A417 and the Goosey Lane junction.

The Environment Agency said this morning it was not expecting to upgrade its current Flood Watches to Flood Warnings.
