Sir – I am somewhat surprised that during this current winter weather that the postal service and refuge collections cease to operate.

I acknowledge the fact that a fall of snow in February is unusual and certainly has taken the whole country unawares but motorists endeavouring to get to work are prepared the accept the weather conditions so why should the public services shy away from their responsibilities.

However, I am sure that as a result of the strange phenomena of snow in February and the disruption to our public services we shall see a reduction in our annual council tax charge.
