Bicester teenagers will get an insight into the world of work on Friday, when the annual Going 4 It careers event takes place.

About 450 pupils from Cooper School and Bicester Community College will get the chance to find out about a host of different jobs and the prospects for local employment.

They will be able to pick up information about apprenticeship, further education and training.

Celebrity guest TV conjurer Max Somerset will open the event and tell the children about his road to success from “geeky” schoolboy to professional magician.

More than 40 businesses have signed up for the day, including firms from the motor and construction industries and health and beauty companies.

Event organiser Miranda Markham said: “This event is aimed at inspiring young people about their opportunities in the future, as well as being an exciting fact-finding day.”

“The businesses enjoy meeting their future workforce and also have the chance to network with each other. The event never disappoints.

“With so much happening in Bicester in coming years, it’s an excellent way to motivate young people to think positively about their future and to help them to make the all-important subject choices for GCSE.”
