Families claim their community is ‘under siege’ from developers trying to double the size of their village with hundreds of homes.

Bloor Homes and Hallam Land Management want to build 210 houses on the field behind The Street and Benson Lane in Crowmarsh and are on the verge of submitting a third planning application.

South Oxfordshire District Council rejected plans for 420 houses in December and before that a planned development of 200 homes was withdrawn.

Members of Crowmarsh Residents Action Group (Crag), demonstrated outside an exhibition hosted by the Bloor Homes on Saturday.

Nick Robins, 60, of Benson Lane, said: “The development would be adding 210 houses to a village of only 400 houses. It would put a huge strain on the road system, making life at the primary school totally impossible because they have no room to expand. It would also put a Ddstrain on Wallingford School.”

A spokesman for Bloor Homes said the revised scheme took into account comments from residents and discussions with council officers.

He said the proposal would offer large areas of open space and landscaped areas, a children's play area and allotments.
