Armed robbers have struck again in Oxfordshire, this time targeting a corner shop.
A man walked into Londis in High Street, Wheatley, at 7pm yesterday and threatened a member of staff with what is believed to be a handgun.
He demanded cash and when the man refused the robber struck him over the head with the weapon.
A small amount of cash was stolen and the cashier was taken the John Radcliffe Hospital for treatment to a head wound.
Police described the robber as white and in his mid-20s. He was wearing dark clothing.
Det Insp Simon Morton, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are linking this incident to the robbery at the BP Garage in Marston on Friday evening and we are also keeping an open mind as to whether they are linked to the other armed robberies that took place in Oxford in December and January.
“I would like to reassure the public we have a number of officers dedicated to this investigation and a lot of work is being carried out to track down and arrest the person responsible.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
