Drivers are being warned to take extra care on Oxfordshire's roads this morning due to the risk of ice forming overnight, with temperatures forecast to fall to about freezing point at 6am, and further wintry showers expected overnight.
County council gritting crews have been working overnight to lay salt on A roads and most B roads.
Bus and train operators are planning to run normal services wherever possible today but there may be short-notice alterations if road conditions are considered unsafe for buses or the weather deteriorates, with further heavy snow forecast for this afternoon and evening.
Passengers are advised to check the operators' websites for the latest information before setting out.
The Oxford Bus Company managed to operate most services as planned yesterday but there were still problems for route 4 services, which could not serve Sandleigh Road in Wootton, near Abingdon, and the 4A was terminating at Elms Parade in Botley, due to icy roads in the Elms Rise area.
Stagecoach made alterations to routes 233, 500, B4, B5 and U1 yesterday due to poor road conditions.
Thames Travel said it aimed to operate a full weekday service today but has asked passengers to check if they are planning to travel later in the day, especially after 8pm, if weather conditions deteriorate. Details of any evening service changes and services on Tuesday will be posted on the firm's website at www.thames-travel.co.uk by 3pm.
RH Transport is expected to run a full service on the Oxford hospitals park and ride services, Nos 600 (Thornhill) and 700 (Water Eaton) but the firm's country routes may still be disrupted, depending on road conditions. On the rails, the county's four train operators, First Great Western, Chiltern Railways, CrossCountry Trains and Wrexham & Shropshire will operate normal weekday timetables but are also advising passengers to check for short-notice alterations if snow falls later in the day.
