Police are hunting a gunman who raided a petrol station in the city last night.
At about 7.50pm, the man walked into the BP garage in Cherwell Drive, Marston, and threatened a member of staff with a handgun.
He demanded cash and then left with £200 along Marston Road towards the city centre. Police have not ruled out a connection with the spate of armed robberies in Oxford during the last two months.
The man is white, in his mid 20s and was wearing dark clothing.
Det Sgt Russell Simpson, investigating the incident, said: “I appeal to anyone who was in this area of Oxford and witnessed a man acting suspiciously to contact police immediately.
“We are still in the early stages of the investigation but we are keeping an open mind as to whether this incident is linked to the other armed robberies that took place in Oxford in December and January.”
Anyone with any information should contact Det Sgt Simpson on 08458 505 505, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
