Dozens of cyclists dressed in green outfits will take to the streets of Oxford on Friday to raise money for student campaigning charity People and Planet.
The event is the latest in a series of ‘alleycat’ cycle rides, a bicycle treasure hunt where cyclists dressed in themed fancy dress have to complete different tasks at a series of checkpoints.
People and Planet campaign to combat world poverty, defend human rights and to protect the environment The ride, which coincides with People and Planet’s climate change campaign Go Green Week, starts in Broad Street at 6.30pm.
It will finish at South Oxford Community Centre in Lake Street at about 7.30pm, followed by an evening of curry, poetry, music and entertainment.
James Blair, from Oxford People and Planet, said: “We are trying to get as many people as possible dressed in crazy green outfits.
“All the checkpoints will be linked to the Go Green campaign so it will be about different ideas for how you can do campaigning.
“It might be making a banner, or cycling on a bicycle hooked up to a generator.”
Volunteers from People and Planet will be manning the 10 checkpoints and instructing people how to carry out each of the tasks.
In October, more than 90 cyclists turned out to take part in a Halloween themed ride.
Anyone who wants to take part should just turn up on the evening.
