Oxford’s infrastructure continues to be hit by the snow.
The John Radcliffe Hospital and Churchill Hospital, both in Headington, and the Horton Hospital in Banbury have cancelled all outpatient appointments and non-urgent operations today.
All other services remain open and patients have been urged not to ring or call in to re-arrange appointments as they will be contacted next week.
Waste collections in Oxford scheduled for yesterday and today have been moved to Monday and Tuesday, weather permitting.
The city council has also closed its customer-service centre in St Aldate’s for the rest of the day, although the facility in Templars Square, Cowley, remains open.
Peers Sports Centre has also been forced to close for the day, but all other council-run leisure centres remain open.
All city council car parks currently open.
On the buses, Stagecoach has cancelled all its services in the city, except for the Oxford Tube, while Oxford Bus Company has reduced its services in the city and to London and the airports.
At 11.10am a spokesman for Oxford Bus Company said: “We are determined to keep the best possible service going. We will be reviewing the situation all the time and we will make a decision on the evening services this afternoon.
“In brief, the main roads are a challenge but we are keeping on the road.
“Headington Hill has been closed and we are diverting via Morrell Avenue and Gypsy Lane.
“The roads around Didcot have been blocked by stranded vehicles and it means the City 35 isn’t able to run beyond Abingdon to Didcot.
“We’ve had to pull the City 4 out of the Rose Hill estate. Buses are running along the main road and turning at Rose Hill roundabout. All City 4 buses are now turning round at Seacourt Park and Ride. There is no service on the City 4 to Abingdon or Cumnor.
“The City 6 to Wolvercote is sticking to the Woodstock Road and turning at the Woodstock Road roundabout.
“We are not able to serve the Barton area with City 8, or Risinghurst with the City 9, buses are turning round at the Headington roundabout.
“The City 13 service is not able to use the Northway estate but is serving to the JR hospital.
“The coaches to London and Heathrow services are still running although with a reduced frequency.
“The espress service to London is now running on a half-hourly frequency because of delays on the M40 around Stokenchurch, leaving Gloucester Green on the hour and the half hour. The airline services to Heathrow are now running every hour. We are still running to Gatwick but with some delays.”
