Snow has hit Oxfordshire again with about 40 schools so far who have declared they will be shut today.
The county had missed the worst of the near-arctic conditions which had crippled certain parts of the country earlier this week.
But overnight up to six inches of snow fell over the county.
About 40 schools so far have reported they will not be open today. Parents were advised to listen to local radio stations, while a list will be put on oxfordmail.co.uk as soon as is possible.
Drivers were warned to drive with extreme caution as conditions were said to be treacherous.
An Oxfordshire County Council spokesman said: "Gritters fitted with snowploughs operated through the night in Oxfordshire.
"However the consistent heavy snowfall meant that roads could not be totally cleared."
Further updates will be posted on oxfordmail.co.uk shortly.
