Most of us in Oxfordshire must have felt left out this week with all the stories about the worst snowfalls in decades — we hardly saw any.
Of course, the truth of the matter was that it snowed significantly in London for the first time in years and the national media reacted as if it was the same for everyone.
Many schools in Oxfordshire did join in the general hysteria about the weather, leaving parents questioning just what was going on.
In Oxfordshire, we had little snow and some frost.
While this may have affected one or two schools in extreme locations, we were staggered to learn of the number of schools either partly or completely closing their doors.
Oxfordshire County Council says it will be questioning schools to find out what went on.
We hope too that it will formulate some sensible guidelines to suggest that schools should err on the side of remaining open.
