Overhead power cables capable of carrying 11,000 volts have been dragged to the ground and stolen by thieves.
Police believe thieves used a tree to pull the cables to the ground in Ramsden, between Chipping Norton and Witney, at about 5pm on Saturday.
They then short-circuited the electricity with a chain which cut the power.
These overhead power cables normally carry 11,000 volts.
It is the latest in a series of metal thefts across the county stolen by gangs to sell on the black market.
Police said last week the number of metal thefts, such as lead from roofs, had fallen alongside the global recession as demand for scrap metal has dropped.
Anyone with information should call police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
