The funeral of former Oxford city councillor Maureen Christian, who died on Friday night aged 82, is to take place on Saturday, February 14.
Labour city councillor for Headington Hill and Northway Mrs Christian will be cremated at a family-only service at Oxford Crematorium in the morning, before a public celebration of her life is held at New College in the afternoon. Councillors and politicians from across the divide have paid tribute to the former Lord Mayor of Oxford.
Dr Evan Harris, the Liberal Democrat MP for Oxford West and Abingdon, said: "It was a privelege to know Maureen and to count her as a friend rather than as a political opponent."
Members of her group described her as a "dogged fighter".
Mrs Christian leaves a son, John, and a daughter, Louise.
Her husband, Prof Jack Christian, died in 2001, aged 73.
