This was the end of an era at St Ebbe’s School in Oxford.
Children gathered to say farewell to headmistress Marjorie Bristow and her deputy Nora Barltrop, who were leaving after 12 years.
A farewell party was held in the school, attended by parents, managers and friends, in July 1969.
Miss Bristow and Mrs Barltrop had developed a strong working partnership – they had worked together previously at St Clement’s Infants School.
