Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery in Headington.
At about 10.30pm yesterday, a teenager walked into Tasty House, Cinnaminta Road, and threatened the members of staff with a gun.
The staff refused to hand over cash and told the offender to go away. He left the shop empty-handed where it is believed a group of teenagers were waiting for him.
The offender is aged in his late teens or early twenties, about 5ft 10in tall, slim, and was wearing a dark blue balaclava.
Det Insp Simon Morton said: “The circumstances of this incident are very different to the other armed robberies that have taken place in Oxford.
“No violence was used and the behaviour of the offender, although a weapon was produced, was less threatening. A group of teenagers were also hanging around outside the takeaway who may have been with the offender.
“We are treating the incident very seriously and I appeal to anyone who may have been in this area of Headington yesterday and witnessed anyone acting suspiciously to contact police immediately.
“Were you with the group of teenagers who were near to the takeaway last night? Do you know the person responsible for the robbery? If you have any information that could assist police inquires please get in touch.”
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Det Insp Morton via Thames Valley Police Enquiry on 0845 8 505 505. If you don’t want to speak to police and don’t want to leave your name contact the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
